Welcome to our blog!

Simon and I thought it would be good to start a blog because we know everyone wants to keep up with our exciting lives! =) I have already experienced so many new things since I have been here in the land of Oz and have wanted to share them with all of you! So here it goes....

I have been in Australia for 20 days and couldn't be happier. It is so nice for Simon and I to finally be together and experience being a normal couple. FINALLY no more Skype dates! Yipee!!!!!!!!

Some things I have been doing since I arrived:

-Cooking and Baking: I have always loved to cook and bake and now I have free time to do it and of course someone to eat it! I have cooked burritos twice since I got here, mostly because I miss Chipotle so much. I found the recipe for Chipotle rice and guac. They tasted close to the real deal, but definitely not up to good ol' chip-ooo-tle standards. Tomorrow I am trying a new double chocolate chip cookie recipe to win over Simon's Grandpa that is coming to visit this weekend. Wish me luck =)

-Learning how to drive on the other side of the road and car! I have definitely had some scares... Simon's mom has been an excellent teacher and has ben very patient with me. I have come a long way since I first began. I have only had one major head on collision scare =/. I am now driving by myself and feel comfortable.

-Doing Simon's Laundry...he is loving that

-Looking for jobs. I haven't found one yet, but I have been babysitting for a few families as well as random other bits and pieces (that was for Rachel haha). I am going to be volunteering at the Children's Hospital in the Child life Therapy department. I figure why not build up the resume before I move back, hey!

-Babysitting. I have been babysitting for a few of Simon's family friends. Their little accents are so cute it melts my heart! Why are foreign accents awesome?? Especially on the little ones.

-Saw Toy Story 3. I Loved it!!!!! Yes, I cried.

-THE WORLD CUP. I had no idea what I was getting myself into when I said yes to Simon when he proposed. haha He is a Sports fanatic and I did not realize the extent until now. If I hear another vuvuzela at 4 am I might just cry... I just keep telling myself it's once every 4 years. That's not so bad is it???

-I have been enjoying spending time with Simon's mom and getting to know the rest of his family. I am so lucky to have such wonderful future in-laws.

Last week I went on a walk to explore the neighborhood and I took a few pictures along the way.

This is home for the next 8 months. The neighborhood is beautiful especially because all the trees are changing color.

I was not very excited to be leaving the warm California sun, but the beautiful trees have definitely made up for it.

Beautiful fall leaves! One of my favorite times of the year.

I love the birds here! It amazes me that birds like these are wild and not just pets! Simon and I were driving one afternoon and we saw at least 25 rainbow lorikeets on the side of the road. It was truly a sight.

Another cool bird I saw on my walk. He was hanging out on someones front lawn. I learned from Eloise, one of the girls I babysit, that this is a Galah and they are only native to Australia.

That's all for now, but I will be sure to make posts often! Miss you all so much.
